On Thursday, March 19, during the Japanese Prime Minister’s visit to Washington, D.C., President Trump announced a Japanese investment to build energy sites in the United States.
With the release of a Fact Sheet, the White House formally announced the Japanese investment of up to $40 billion from GE Vernova Hitachi in Tennessee and Alabama to build small modular reactors.
As we await further details, TVA stands ready to partner with the Administration to build nuclear reactors to strengthen our national security.
In addition to supporting our national security with American energy, we believe this opportunity will further solidify the Tennessee Valley as the leader in nuclear energy. With supportive local, state and federal officials and countless nuclear companies making the Valley their home base, our entire region is positioned to support this whole of government effort.
TVA will continue to work with the Administration as we plan next steps in this historic partnership.
