TVA and Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc. (BVI) are once again teaming up to support the next generation of creators, thinkers and problem-solvers through the TVA Robotics Award Program, which opens for applications on April 1 and closes May 15.

The annual program provides financial support to help schools and youth serving nonprofits expand access to robotics education – one of the most effective ways to prepare young people for the jobs and technologies that will shape the Valley region’s energy future.

Award recipients can receive up to $5,000 to purchase robotics kits, tools, materials, and cover competition entry fees. Awards may be used to strengthen existing robotics teams or help launch new programs. Last year, 179 programs were selected for funding, which illustrated both the growing need and growing enthusiasm for high-quality robotics learning throughout TVA’s service territory.

“TVA’s commitment to robotics is grounded in a simple but powerful belief: Investing in our youth today helps build the skilled, innovative workforce our region will need tomorrow,” said Althea Jones, Director of Stakeholder Engagement. “Early exposure to robotics fosters creativity, teamwork and critical thinking. These skills are essential for future engineers, tradespeople and energy professionals who will help meet the Valley’s evolving energy needs.”

The Robotics Award program exemplifies TVA’s mission of service.

“When we invest in robotics education, we’re investing directly in the future of our communities,” said Trina Gallman, Public and Community Engagement Consultant. “These students are tomorrow’s innovators and problem-solvers, and programs like this give them the tools to imagine what’s possible – both for themselves and for the Valley.”

Eligible applicants include public and private schools in TVA’s service and watershed areas, along with nonprofit organizations serving youth ages 5 – 18. Robotics leaders can find more information and apply online beginning April 1 at TVA.com/robotics.
