At 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, the federal government entered a shutdown after Congress did not pass government funding legislation before the end of the fiscal year.
TVA is funded almost exclusively from the sales of electricity with no federal appropriations, and we do not expect our operations to be impacted.
Since 1933, TVA was created to serve and make life better for the people of the Valley region. We continue our mission today through our three Es – Energy, Environmental Stewardship and Economic Development.
