A Photo Essay Celebrating the Lineworkers Who Keep Us Connected

From the flat, sweeping swamps in the west to the steep mountainsides in the east, lineworkers are building the nervous system of TVA.

16,000 miles of transmission lines connect us.

These powerful strands are a fixture in the backdrop of our lives – lines leading us toward progress.

But behind every line is the worker who strings them, repairs them.

Muddy tires and boots – grip and grit – traverse the Valley region.

Whatever the weather or terrain, lineworkers meet the sunrise – each day bringing with it something new.

Substation to substation, home to business, the electric byways above our heads buzz with possibility.

While the fog rests low in the valleys, line-workers are in the sky.

They balance grace and tenacity.

They are hard-wired for this – bravery in their tool belts.

They string the lines. They bring the light.

Together we serve the Valley region – one line at a time.

You keep us illuminated.

Thank you to the dedicated group of employees on the ground, in helicopters, on structures and everywhere between.
