As America celebrates 250 years, we are reminded of the values that have carried our nation forward and shaped TVA’s work throughout the Valley region. Those principles of connection, service and a commitment to one another guide TVA’s efforts to power communities and strengthen the region we’re proud to serve.

To commemorate this historic milestone, TVA will celebrate and highlight both where we’ve been and where we’re headed.

We’ve created a new patriotic logo to use as an expression of pride for TVA’s mission of service and the people of the Valley region. Commemorative 250th anniversary tote bags, bandanas and postcards will be available at all four of our staffed visitor centers. We will also distribute hard hat stickers for our field employees and truck magnets for our service vehicles, so we can showcase our pride in building the next 250.

Dam tours

We will welcome the public into four facilities with staffed visitor centers: Raccoon Mountain, Kentucky Dam, Fontana Dam and Norris Dam. Visitors can step inside and experience a closer look at how each facility contributes to TVA’s work.

In July, each location will host two groups of 20 people, giving a total of 160 individuals the chance to tour our facilities. The tours give visitors an opportunity to learn about our facilities, explore their unique features and gain a deeper understanding of the role TVA plays across the Valley region.

Time capsule

As our celebration continues beyond these tours, TVA’s Power Service Shops helped create a time capsule to honor this moment and preserve it for future generations. We will collect reflections, well wishes and hopes for the future, as well as meaningful artifacts that capture who the people of the Valley region are in 2026.

Visitors on our anniversary tours and to the centers from July 8-31 can write their messages in person, and anyone who cannot visit a center can participate online. The time capsule will remain sealed and in its permanent home at Norris Dam Visitor Center until 2076, 50 years from now, when the next generation will open it and reflect on how TVA has impacted the Valley region.

Other celebrations

Additionally, some TVA facilities, such as the headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee, and the Kentucky Dam in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, will light up the night sky with red, white and blue throughout July.
