Position: Payroll & Accounting Specialist
Location: Knoxville, TN (Hybrid)
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Are you detail-oriented and passionate about payroll and accounting? Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc. is looking for a skilled professional to manage payroll across multiple entities and support our finance operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll for all employees and companies, pulling and validating data from multiple systems to build accurate payroll files ensuring timely and compliant payments.
- Download payroll reports from ADP and upload data into the accounting system for general ledger reporting.
- Verify timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local laws, including multi-state regulations.
- Review payroll-related tax filings and reports for accuracy and relevance.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records in ADP payroll system.
- Collaborate with operations teams to capture employee location transfers and ensure accurate reporting.
- Knowledge of and ability to research state tax and labor code for payroll tax registration, filing and reporting requirements.
- Download data from various systems, verify and reconcile data with supporting documents, and integrate the data into the payroll system.
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Educate and train employees in proper use of payroll system.
- Reconcile payroll data to general ledger accounts, ensuring payroll data aligns with accounting records.
- Perform general accounting tasks such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close support.
- Prepares various spreadsheets and reports to management or the Board.
- Participate in the annual budget process.
- Handle confidential information with discretion.

Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of this position
- Minimum of 3–5 years payroll processing experience
- Proficiency in ADP payroll software and experience with general ledger integration
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and tax laws
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
