Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Knoxville, TN
Full-Time

Bicentennial Volunteers, Inc. (BVI) is seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial operations of BVI and its affiliated organizations—National Emergency Assistance, Inc. (NEA) and Retiree Resources Corporation (RRC)—through established management services agreements.

As a key member of the Executive Team, the CFO will play a critical role in ensuring financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. This position reports directly to the BVI President.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as 401(k) Plan Administrator, ensuring compliance and effective benefit management.
  • Oversee all accounting functions: A/P, A/R, general ledger, reconciliations, and monthly close.
  • Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with related regulations.
  • Lead the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Monitor cash flow, investments, and financial reserves.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls, financial policies, and procedures.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to executive leadership and the board.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Support strategic planning and decision-making with financial insights.
  • Oversee financial aspects of vendor contracts, including compliance and tracking.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree or CPA designation preferred.

Experience:

  • 7–10 years of progressive financial management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong preference for nonprofit financial management experience.
  • Proficiency in GAAP and nonprofit reporting standards.
  • Experience with accounting systems (SAGE and/or ADP preferred).
  • Demonstrated success in budgeting, forecasting, and investment management.
