Responsibilities

  • PROVIDE SENIOR MANAGEMENT AN ONGOING OBJECTIVE AND INDEPENDENT VIEW OF DEMOLITION AND SITE RESTORATION SAFETY PERFORMANCE ON DECOMMISSIONING PROJECTS. PROVIDE A FRAMEWORK OF POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND PROCESSES FOR CONSTRUCTION/DEMOLITION SAFETY MANAGEMENT. ENSURES ACCOUNTABILITY STANDARDIZATION AND CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION INDUSTRY BEST PERFORMANCE. MANAGES SITE SAFETY AND WORKS IN TANDEM WITH THE SITE MANAGER, WHILE REPORTING TO THE D4 SAFETY MANAGER.  SUPPORTS TVA SAFETY PROCESSES, PROCEDURES AND TRAINING NEEDS. MONITORS AND EVALUATES CONTRACTOR SAFETY PROGRAMS WHILE PROVIDING SAFETY OVERSIGHT. LEAD BEHAVIOR CENTERED SAFETY, OVERSEE INCIDENT REPORTING AND INVESTIGATIONS, PERFORM EFFECTIVENESS MONITORING OF SAFETY PROGRAMS. PREPARE CORPORATE SAFETY DATA REPORTS TO PRESENT TO D4 SAFETY MANAGER. DRIVE CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT TOWARDS DEMOLITION/CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY SAFETY BEST PERFORMANCE. ADVISE SENIOR MANAGEMENT OF SAFETY CULTURE/CONDITIONS WITHIN THEIR SITE. SUPPORT NC LEADERS WITH ALIGNMENT TOWARD AN INCIDENT-FREE SAFETY CULTURE. IMPLEMENTS BEHAVIOR BASED SAFETY PRINCIPALS AND CONCEPTS. SUPPORT SITE MANAGER AND FIELD TECHS BY PROVIDING CENTRAL COORDINATION POINT AND OUTLET FOR ESCALATION OF SITE SAFETY CONCERNS/CONDITIONS. SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAFETY PLANS, AND JOB SAFETY ANALYSIS (JSAS) THAT MATCH THE RISK AND NEEDS/REQUIREMENTS OF THE OPERATIONS AND CORPORATE SAFETY POLICY. RECOMMEND IMPROVEMENTS TO TVA SAFETY ON HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.

Education

  • B.S. DEGREE IN ENGINEERING OR SCIENCE (SAFETY RELATED FIELD) OR DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE OF EQUIVALENT DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES. TRAINING IN THE FIELD OF CONSTRUCTION/DEMOLITION SAFETY IS PREFERRED.

Experience

  • FIVE OR MORE YEAR’S PROGRESSIVE SAFETY EXPERIENCE IN UTILITY OPERATIONS/GENERATION/CONSTRUCTION.

Certification/license, etc.

  • CERTIFIED SAFETY PROFESSIONAL IS PREFERRED.
  • CPR/FIRST AID

  • WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF OSHA 1926 CONSTRUCTION REGULATIONS, STATE AND LOCAL SAFETY LAWS, AND OTHER REGULATORY AGENCIES RELATING TO DEMOLITION.  SOUND/ETHICAL JUDGMENT, STRONG LEADERSHIP SKIILLS, AND ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY AS WELL AS IN A GROUP SETTING.  ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY. DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER TVA ORGANIZATIONS AND TO COMMUNICATE CLEARLY ORALLY AND IN WRITING. STRONG COMMITMENT TO AND SKILLS IN EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATION, TO BE ABLE TO BUILD TEAMWORK AND CONVEY MISSION, OBJECTIVE, EXPECTATIONS, AND PHILOSOPHY. DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO INTERPRET BROAD POLICY MATTERS AND PROVIDE GUIDES TO PROJECT MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL.
