Operation Hero’s Hill will create up to 20 tiny homes and a community center to serve as the heart of the development. The homes will be constructed by students from Knox County Schools’ (KCS) Career and Technical Education programs who will be mentored by construction trade experts throughout the process. Through partnership with KCS, the Skilled Trades Academy Regional Training (START) Center, and The Associated General Contractors of TN Knoxville Region, this innovative project not only provides housing for Veterans but also offers students hands-on learning experiences that will build real-world construction skills. Thanks to the generous donation of all building supplies by D.R. Horton and wholehearted support of numerous KCS teachers and administrators, construction is set to begin in August 2025.
No Veteran should be without a place to call home in the country they swore to defend, and with your support, Operation Hero’s Hill can provide safe shelter to 20 unhoused Veterans currently living here in our community. Your donation will support trailers for construction and transport of the tiny homes, construction of the central community center—which will include a computer lab, washers and dryers, and flexible meeting space—as well as furnishings, kitchen essentials, and other soft goods that turn housing into a place to call home. Every contribution helps us honor our Veterans’ service with the comfort and dignity deserved.
