Job Duties

The incumbent provides Transmission staff expert assistance for Asset Management and Condition Monitoring, optimization, engineering analyses, data acquisition and management, and development of user-interface hardware and software.  Responsibilities may include one or more of the following:

Formulates analytical and numerical approaches for large-scale systems and develops and implements investigative methods that improve operating efficiencies and correct problems involving the complex interaction of the many components of the TVA Transmission system.

Provides expert optimization assistance for the modification, testing and utilization of various software products to support TVA Non-Nuclear asset reliability and performance.

Develops and implements complex performance monitoring systems and provides training in their application.

Coordinates and configures communication, collection, and storage of data from condition sensors to centralized systems such as eDNA.

Facilitates the development, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance of new devices, applications, databases, and user facing displays and reports.

Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements/Other Requirements:

Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctor’s degree in engineering, applied mathematics, or operational research from an accredited college or university and three or more years of professional experience in the area of optimization, hydraulic engineering, numerical analysis, or performance evaluation and monitoring systems.

Additional Job Details:

Responsible for providing expert technical advice in a data science or data engineering role and developing internal consensus on issues relating to transmission asset management; responsible for evaluating, developing, and providing guidance on asset data and information to Senior Staff and Senior Management, including the structure and integration of asset data and data systems across all transmission functional areas through implementation and recommendations related to automation, integration, analytics, visualization, and reporting tools. Responsible for coordinating and completing transmission asset management projects related to strategic, tactical, operational, and optimization initiatives in support of effective data-driven business decisions throughout electric utility asset lifecycles.

The TVA Transmission organization is making investments in industry-leading Asset Performance Management (APM) technology. This investment is part of Transmission’s Strategic Vision and is aimed at providing the most reliable transmission grid in the industry and to ensure that the most advanced industry solutions are leveraged to maximize asset performance in key financial and reliability areas. The Transmission Asset Management department will be instrumental in delivering improved asset performance by coordinating the efficient deployment and operation of powerful predictive analytic software, coupled with intelligent devices, to drive our asset life-cycle decision making processes, standardizing APM procedures, and enabling an enhanced asset ‘condition assessment’ communications protocol in a consistent, structured, and safe way. Multiple enterprise-wide technology systems will provide asset management capability for each of Transmission’s organizational groups by playing a critical role in identifying, managing, coordinating, and escalating transmission events on common devices, infrastructure, networks, and applications.
